The Central Coast Peak Bodies Alliance industry group has welcomed the NSW Government’s announcement to fast-track a major state-led rezoning of the Gosford City Centre and West Gosford — a move set to unlock around 1,900 new homes, create local jobs, and deliver better public spaces for the community.

The 283-hectare rezoning will consolidate and update planning controls to make it easier and faster to deliver new homes while prioritising design excellence and liveability. The NSW Government states the proposal aligns with the Central Coast Regional Plan 2041 and Gosford Urban Design Framework, setting the long-term vision for a vibrant, sustainable, and connected regional capital.

The NSW Government will progress the proposal under the State Significant Rezoning Policy, ensuring faster decisions and more coordinated infrastructure delivery. Public exhibition is expected in 2026.

The Central Coast Peak Bodies Alliance reinforced the importance of partnership between all levels of government, industry, and the community to unlock housing, jobs and public spaces while maintaining the Coast’s unique character.

The Central Coast Peak Bodies Alliance has been working collaboratively with state government and Central Coast Council through a dedicated Gosford working group focused on identifying priority projects and funding pathways and ensuring planning efforts complement existing strategies and infrastructure delivery.

The members of the Alliance hailed today’s announcement as a strong signal that Gosford’s time has come. Central Coast industry stakeholders are committed to continuing collaboration to make sure the city’s revitalisation delivers the homes, jobs and public spaces our community needs.
